Fracking ban

Oil and gas companies want to drill for gas under our communities in a process called fracking. For seven years the Scottish Green MSPs in parliament pressed the government to ban it.

And in 2019 they effectively did. Putting it alongside new nuclear power in planning laws so that it couldn’t happen.

But now the Tories want to claw back powers on what they call ‘the internal market’ to over-rule Holyrood on things like the fracking ban.

To get a proper, future-proofed ban on fracking in place, Scotland needs to take a different, independent path, rejoining the European Union as a leader in renewable energy. Electing more Greens to the Scottish Parliament brings that closer.

Scotland has some of the greatest renewable energy resources in the world. By harnessing the skills of Scottish energy workers and our renewable energy potential we can generate sustainable industries and jobs.
